| IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: UNSUNG HEROES EVENT CANCELLED
It is with disappointment that the Kansas City Recovery Coalition announces the cancellation of this year’s Unsung Heroes event due to insufficient ticket sales and overall participation.
Unsung Heroes is about more than one event. It was created to recognize the people doing incredible work—often behind the scenes—to strengthen recovery in our community.
It is also important for us to be transparent: Unsung Heroes is KCRC’s one and only fundraising opportunity of the year.
The work of building connections, supporting our recovery community, creating events, and bringing organizations and individuals together takes more than a small group of people behind the scenes. It takes community participation and support.
Unfortunately, we did not receive enough ticket purchases and participation to responsibly move forward with this year’s event.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who DID purchase a ticket, submit a nomination, volunteer, share information, or support the event. You showed up, and we appreciate you.
We also hope this moment starts an important conversation. Community organizations can only continue providing opportunities when the community participates in them. Buying a ticket, attending an event, volunteering, sharing a post, becoming involved, or supporting a fundraiser may seem small—but collectively, those actions are what keep this work moving forward.
We believe in this recovery community, and we believe in what is possible when we truly show up for one another.
